CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education)

CBSE was established in 1962. It's a national-level educational board in India. It oversees and regulates the curriculum, examinations, and educational standards for affiliated schools. More than 20,000 schools across India and abroad are affiliated with it. The board conducts secondary (class 10th) and senior secondary (class 12th) examinations. You can decide on streams after class 10th on the basis of your preferred career options in India. It further performs CCE (continuous and comprehensive evaluation) for students till secondary levels. CBSE certificates are widely recognized for admission to HEIs in India and abroad.

CBSE focuses on uniform and standard education across affiliated schools. It has a strong focus on STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics) courses. The syllabus is comprehensive. It and prepares students for various competitive exams, like JEE, NEET and others. It also offers skill-based subjects and vocational courses. These aim to enhance student employability and practical skills. The medium of instruction is primarily English and Hindi.

NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling)

NIOS stands for the National Institute of Open Schooling. It is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It was established in 1989 by the Ministry of HRD(now Ministry of Education). It provides education to people unable to attend regular schools. In India it offers flexible and open education to a wide range of learners. NIOS is recognized by the Government of India. Its certificates are valid for higher education and employment purposes, both nationally and internationally. It offers support services through study centres, regional centres, and online platforms.

NIOS offers secondary, senior secondary and vocational education courses. Secondary education is equivalent to the 10th standard in regular schools. Senior secondary is equivalent to the 12th standard. Vocational education includes skill-based courses to enhance employability. Additionally, Life enrichment programs are provided for personal development. NIOS conducts public examinations twice a year (April-May and October-November). It also provides the option for on-demand examinations,

CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination)

CISCE is a private, non-governmental board of school education in India. It conducts the ICSE and ISC examinations. It was established in 1958 and has over 2300 schools in India and abroad affiliated to it. CISCE aims to provide high-quality education through a balanced and comprehensive curriculum. It encourages critical thinking, creativity, and holistic development of students. CISCE certificates are widely recognized by universities and colleges in India and abroad. This facilitates smooth admission processes.

ICSE (Class 10th curriculum) offers a wide range of subjects. These include compulsory and optional subjects. Compulsory subjects include English, a second language, history, civics, and geography. Under ISC (Class 12th curriculum), students can choose subjects from three streams. These are Science, Commerce, and Humanities/Arts. English is compulsory. IB (International Baccalaureate)

IB is an internationally recognized educational foundation. It offers a continuum of high-quality programs. These aim to develop intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills for students aged 3 to 19. It was established in 1968, with headquarters in Geneva Switzerland. It has over 5,500 schools affiliated with it in over 160 countries. IB programs are recognized globally. This makes it easier for students to transition to universities and careers worldwide.

It offers PYP (Primary years programs – for ages between 3 to 12 years). MYP (middle-year programs) are offered between 11 to 16 years. Diploma programs (DP) and Career programs (CP) are offered between 16 to 19 years. PYP curriculum covers language, mathematics, science, social studies, arts and physical education. MYP curriculum includes eight subject groups. These include language, literature, language acquisition, individuals & societies, sciences, mathematics and arts. DP includes six subject groups. IB qualifications are widely recognized and respected by universities, colleges, and employers worldwide. IB diploma holders often have preferential treatment in university admissions. CAIE (Cambridge Assessment International Education)

CAIE was founded in 1858. It is a part of the University of Cambridge. It offers international qualifications and assessments to students around the world. It has over 10,000 affiliated schools in over 160 countries. It is known for its rigorous academic standards and comprehensive curriculum.

It offers Cambridge primary (for ages between 5 and 11 years). It focuses on developing skills. It also focuses on understanding in English, mathematics, science and global perspectives. Cambridge Lower Secondary is offered between 11 to 14 years of age. Cambridge Upper Secondary covers 14 to 16 years of age. Cambridge IGCSE is widely recognized and covers over seventy subjects. Cambridge 0 level is equivalent to IGCSE, focused on traditional subject areas. Cambridge Advanced covers 16 to 19 years of age. It covers Cambridge International AS & A levels. Cambridge Pre-U is an alternative to A-levels. It focuses on in-depth study and preparing students for university.

CAIE qualifications are recognized and respected by universities, employers and educational institutions globally. Cambridge AS & A levels align well with the admissions requirements of prestigious universities globally.
